چکیده

Dear Sir, I would like to report an interesting case of a two-year old, female, spayed Bengal cat with a lesion similar to osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the medial femoral condyle with concurrent distal femoral varus, medial patella luxation and hip dysplasia. The cat was presented with an intermittent, mild left hindlimb lameness, which the owner reported to be associated with an audible ‘click’. Clinical examination was unremarkable other than luxation of the left patella with flexion of the stifle and concurrent internal rotation of the tibia which spontaneously repositioned with stifle extension. An effusion of the left stifle, and signs of mild resentment to extension of the coxofemoral joints bilaterally were also present. Palpation of the right stifle was unremarkable. Under general anaesthesia plain radiographs of the pelvis revealed mild bilateral hip dysplasia with very early signs of osteoarthritis. Orthogonal radiographs of the left stifle revealed a well-defined, smoothly-marginated mineral opacity within the craniomedial aspect of the intercondylar notch 3 mm x 1 mm in size, distal femoral varus, a medially positioned patella within the femoral trochlear, and new bone formation on the distal pole of the patella ( Fig. 1). Orthogonal views of the right stifle revealed distal femoral varus and a fine mineralised streak in the craniomedial aspect of the intercondylar notch. The right patella was positioned centrally in the femoral trochlear. Arthroscopy of the left stifle using a 1.9 mm arthroscope via a standard craniolateral scope portal and craniomedial instrument portal (which

Meniscoplasty for stable osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle combined with a discoid lateral meniscus: a case report

INTRODUCTION Osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle is relatively rare, and it is reported to often be combined with a discoid lateral meniscus. Given the potential for healing, conservative management is indicated for stable osteochondritis dissecans in patients who are skeletally immature. However, patients with osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle combin...

Osteochondritis dissecans located on the medial tibial plateau: a case report

BACKGROUND Osteochondritis dissecans are typically located mainly on the femoral condyle, with reported but less common cases of patella involvement. In this case report, we reported a rare case of osteochondritis dissecans located on the medial tibial plateau. CASE PRESENTATION A 26-year-old Han Chinese woman presented with a lesion on her left medial tibial plateau. She was treated by arthr...

Internal fixation of undisplaced lesions of osteochondritis dissecans in the knee.

A total of 11 patients (12 knees) with stable lesions of osteochondritis dissecans of the knee underwent arthroscopic fixation of the fragments using polylactide bioabsorbable pins. The site of the lesion was the medial femoral condyle in ten knees and the lateral femoral condyle in two. The mean age of the patients was 14.8 years (12 to 16). At a mean follow-up of 32.4 months (13 to 38 months)...

Osteochondritis dissecans of the knee in a subadult from a medieval (ninth century A.D.) site in Croatia.

Although osteochondritis dissecans of the knee has been known for a long time, we still do not fully understand why it develops. This prompted us to present and describe an example of osteochondritis dissecans identified in the Osteological Collection of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The case of osteochondritis dissecans described in this report was recovered from the Gluvine kuće ...

Abnormal Femoral Origin of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Associated with Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Medial Femoral Condyle

We report a case of abnormal meniscal-like anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), inserting at the 9 o’clock position just beside the cartilage of the lateral femoral condyle, in a stable knee associated with osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the medial femoral condyle.
